Just outside of the Chenjiaqiao stop on Line 1 there are the remnants of an older farming community. Several hundred yards in, Chenjiaqiao city suddenly becomes modern again, but not until after you have forded several bogs and small scale farms. It’s a strange walk to go from the Star Trek looking rail platform, through a somewhat pre-industrial landscape and emerge in 80’s and 90’s era Chinese architecture.
Usually I go to Chenjiaqiao to buy furniture or tools, or to go to the outdoor market.
